We're happy to announce that our new & improved MICROVAP evaporator product line is finalized and available for purchase. With options to dry down small volume samples in either vials or microplates, the MICROVAP has proven to be a tried and true solution for labs needing an affordable, compact evaporation station.
Due to the instrument's popularity and high demand, we decided to revamp the design – further improving its unique features and making it accessible for a larger range of applications. Aesthetically, the two units will look almost the same, but let's go through the performance improvements you can expect to see with the new MICROVAP design.
Faster Heat Up Times
The redesigned sample heat block reaches the desired temperature up to 75% faster at lower set point ranges, and up to 15% faster for higher set point ranges. Faster heat up times lead to an increase in productivity and an overall smoother workflow.
Expanded Temperature Range
The new temperature controller allows for operation at and slightly above room temperature for use with samples that have strict thermal requirements. The very low heat settings allow you to keep your samples at room temperature, combatting the cooling effect that nitrogen blowdown can have on samples.
More Focused Energy
The new bath pan design, now manufactured in-house by our production experts, improves energy to the sample block by 27.5% on average. Energy will stay confined to the heat block and your samples, leaving the rest of the instrument cool to the touch.
Improved Temperature Stability
Due to the more focused energy described above, the new pan design also minimizes temperature overshoot as the sample block approaches set point temps. The MICROVAP can accurately maintain temperatures from room temperature all the way up to 130 °C. This proves helpful for those who will be using low heat, as you can insert your samples into the unit as it is turning on and there's no risk of the evaporator overshooting past the set temperature. Rather than waiting for the unit's temperature to settle, you can start evaporation at room temperature and have your samples heat up while sitting under the nitrogen stream to save time.
The old-style Classic MICROVAPs will still be available for a limited time at a discounted rate. This is a great option for labs who need all the benefits that the MICROVAP provides, but may be working with a tight budget. Available while supplies last. For labs who will be working with low heat settings, the redesigned MICROVAP is recommended as the new bath pan will provide improved temperature control and faster heat up times.
