Product Information, Sample Concentration Options
/ David OlivaSince the invention of the N-EVAP, the first and best-selling sample concentrator for test tubes, Organomation has been widely known as a nitrogen blowdown workstation manufacturer. One of the reasons the N-EVAP can be utilized by a wide range of laboratories is because of its flexibility in adapting to different size sample vials.
Additionally, the company aims to cover a wide range of solvent removal needs by offering three distinct blowdown models:
- The N-EVAP for flexibility in drying diverse vials, ranging from 10-30 mm in diameter
- The MICROVAP for drying 96 well plates and small vials such as microcentrifuge tubes
- The MULTIVAP for concentrating a large batch of test tubes for precision and large throughput
To focus on the MULTIVAP, our popular water bath concentrator, we stock test tube holders for the most common sample vial sizes, such as 15 mL conical tubes or 2 mL Eppendorf tubes.
While these are ready to ship for customer convenience, we understand that lab procedures developed in-house are one of a kind, which means that the standard sample preparation instrumentation might not be sufficient. Organomation prides itself on producing equipment which serves the chemist, not the other way around!
When a laboratory has a need to dry down one type of test tube, we request that they ship us a sample vial so that we can design the sample holder to fit their vial perfectly. In a video introducing Organomation, we display what it looks like when one of our fabricator's custom machines a sample block. Watch Organomation's company video below.
A number of customers have relayed to us that they work with a local machine shop for when they need something customized. While proximity to the lab is certainly an advantage to this arrangement, the cost charged to the laboratory, possibly because the project was atypical to the machine shop, was exorbitant. Organomation's customized sample holders range from between $100 to $600, well below the couple thousand this laboratory paid for an additional holder to be made. As we specialize in making custom sample holders, we do not incur the prototyping, rework, or excess labor costs which would be passed on to a lab by a machine shop learning this work "on the job".
It goes without saying that science requires precision. Chemists should not be forced into making one of two bad choices, either adapting their work to utilize a rigid equipment solution or paying excessive costs to have a customized solution made for them. Organomation aims to provide affordable, customized solvent removal equipment which is tailor made for the individual laboratory and application.
